There is no way around it, we are in extremely unprecedented times these days. You cannot help but be bombarded, and flooded with information about Covid-19: how many people have gotten sick, what areas are the most impacted, what stores are closing, the list goes on and on. Whether traditional cable, or social media, there is an abundance of information available to us. On top of those distractrions, when we do go out for essential items, or in my case, continue to serve the public, our routines have been disrupted and how we used to approach what used to be simple tasks, like getting a cup of coffee or picking up a loaf of bread, are anything but routine and provokes a certain amount of anxiety, at least for me.

I am the first to admit that I have gotten caught up in the Covid-19 pandemic or at least the constant stimulation from the media and it has distracted me somewhat, from my goals or what I want out of life. I think that can be understood to a certain extent, if not condoned. A situation like this is unprecedented, at least for the 41 years I have been on earth. I realize that in previous generations there were pandemics, and crises and comparissons to those periods have been made constantly but until you are in it, you really have no idea what it was like.

When 2020 began, I mapped out what I wanted and what I would accomplish. I had planned a return to the bodybuilding stage in late summer after a 3 year hiatus, and while I can't blame my change in plans on gym closures, I have had to accept that it will not happen this year. That does not mean that all that I had planned for the year goes out the window. As some of you know, I have been writing a book and am around 40% of the way through it. My family and I have been working toward a debt free world since the middle of 2018. While we have hit a few snags as is the case with any long term goal, I am happy to say that we are wonderfully on track and the "weird part" is that the current environment has provided an opportunity to achieve these goals a little sooner and in crossing off my bodybuilding competition, which was initially a little devastating, it has enabled me to focus that much more on my other desires and give more energy to that which CAN be controlled.

It would be VERY easy to focus on what can't be done in times like these and what we cannot do or have, maybe even just "mail it in" each day because what's the point.... But what we can do is focus our attention on what we can control, find gratitude in what we still have and can feel in our everyday lives and in that, feel recharged and imagine what life will be like when, in spite of all that has happened and what continues to impact us each day, we can look back and feel overjoyed.

"Where focus goes, energy flows"

-Tony Robbins

With love and gratitude,
